Creating your Future

Everyone has a different concept of what defines a person. Everyone has another idea about what makes you who you are. Some adhere it to your habits, to your appearance, to your social circles and a lot of other things which may or may not matter to many. But across all these different frames of reference, there is one common factor which can be anchored to who exactly you are. That is your Ideology.

‘Ideology’ might seem a word too old to be still in use, or you might consider yourself too ‘young’ to concern yourself with such ‘boring’ things. That is also true to a point. But thinking about one’s ideology, pondering upon the reasons behind their actions; that is what gives rise to what we call a ‘person’. To be simple, your ideology is what makes you who you are.

You might say that you don’t have one. Or again, it is too early for you to think about such stuff. But behind your every action, the driving force is none other but your ideology. You deify pop stars, that’s an ideology. You worship bookworms, that’s an ideology. You don’t care about anything, that’s an ideology. You live out loud, that’s an ideology. Your ideology displays itself in every single action you carry out.

So, how’s it important? Why waste your time thinking about it? Well, there’s a very simple answer to this question. Consider some molten metal flowing in a random direction with a turbulent flow. That is your life. As it runs along, it cools down and becomes more and more solid with the passage of time. That’s the case with your life too. As time passes, your initial habits, your initial ideology becomes progressively more solid and solid. It forms a cast around the shape of your life, which you can’t break no matter how hard you try. Because by the time you realise you want to break out of it, the molten metal would already have been solidified.

That’s how it works. If you take some time to think about your ideology which defines you, and what kind of person you want to become, life has given you ample time to guide that flow of molten metal to the shape of your liking. If you still have some time, act on it. Because, your ideology is going to determine your future.
