Fashion V/S Fashion industry

When I watched fashion shows of Victoria’s secret or the New York fashion week all I could think of is how we can’t afford those clothes, how we can’t get those perfect bodies of those models that walk the ramp.

But that’s when I came into realisation that there is a difference between fashion and the fashion industry.

Industry is a business, and the brands that they promote are marketing.

Fashion on the other hand is about defining yourself. Yes some might call it pretentious and some might say it was for the elite only.

But that’s seen in such a wrong perspective.

Fashion doesn’t judge, you can create your own trend, your own mark without needing to brand it.

The clothes you wear every day, how you accessorise it with shoes, bags etc is what defines you, what defines your signature look. Not those models on the runway.

Fashion is supposed to make you feel great about yourself.

So don’t criticise fashion, criticize the industry that’s setting up the wrong standards.

As Ralph Lauren said

“Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you”
